Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, one of the masterminds of the
October 7, 2023, attack in southern Israel that triggered
the war in Gaza, has been killed in an Israeli military
operation in Rafah.

. . .

It will be interesting to see if this changes the
overall equation. Hamas cells seem to organized
kind of loosely - not super-dependent on central
C&C. This is a stronger structure for the conditions.

Sinwar was reputed to often surround himself with
a little cadre of Israeli hostages - human shields.
However today that did not seem to be the case and
the IDF reports only three people were meeting in
the building at that moment.

Israel has been very successful of late with its
efforts to decapitate Hamas and Hezbollah.

Hez DOES seem to be a little more top-down, so the
loss of its higher leadership has more impact.

Joe and K kept telling Israel to NOT attack
Rafah - but it looks like ignoring said edicts
DID pay off.

Not confirmed yet.

Funny how Israel keeps claiming it has “weakened” Hamas, and “taken
control” of various parts of Gaza, only to have to keep coming back to the
same areas again and again, and destroying whatever building fragments are
still left standing, and massacring whatever people are still left alive.
The bloodbath shows no signs of letting up: whatever Israel is shooting
at, it certainly shows no signs of “weakening”.
